Hazrat Aisha (R.A) reported: The Messenger of Allah(P.B.U.H) would not sleep before evening prayer and he would not stay up after it.
“When you go to bed, do wudu as for prayer.” (Bukhari, 247; Muslim 2710).
so performing wudu before going to bed is a highly recommended Sunnah it ensures that there's an angel seeking forgiveness for you.
“Whoever goes to his bed, he should dust his bed three times, because he doesn’t know what was left behind”
So by following this Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H), we will be rewarded, and some insects that may be harmful to us, so by dusting the bed we will remove them, InshAllah.
The Prophet (PBUH) used to sleep on his right side with his right hand on his right cheek.
It is narrated in Sahih Muslim that one of the companions said that the Prophet (P.B.U.H) told him:
“Whenever you go to bed, perform ablution like that for the prayer, and lie on your right side”
It is a beautiful habit and sunnah to remember and connect with Allah Almighty before going to sleep.
Our beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) has taught us many adhkars, supplications, and surahs of the Qur'an through which we can connect with Allah.
We should recite three Quls (Surah Ikhlas, Surah Falak & Surah Naas, Ayat ul Kursi, Surah Kafiroon, 33 times Subhanallah, 33 times Alhamdulilah and 34 times Allah u Akbar, last two verses of Surah Baqarah and dua for sleeping which is:
اَللّٰهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوْتُ وَأَحْيَا.
