What Allah says about Dua in Quran?
In the Surah Ghafir, Allah says:
"And your Lord says, Make Dua before Me, I will accept for you. Verily those who disdain My worship surely will enter the hellfire contemptible" (40:60)
Hadith About Dua

‘Let one of you ask his Lord for his every need, even until he asks Him for the strap of his sandal when it breaks.’
It is an important part of our faith and belief. We ask from Almighty Allah for everything that we want in our life no matter its how big or small.
There are various Dua with different purposes in the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet s.a.w. We're largely encouraged to recite these Dua from both sources for our benefits in both worlds. Also, we can personalise our Dua by making it in our own words and in a language we're comfortable with for better contemplation. Indeed if our expressions in the Dua may sound opaque or not well organized, Allah s.w.t. knows our intentions.
Manners Of Making Dua
The Mufassireen have mentioned some conditions and manners for accepting the Dua , their summary is as follows :
1: Be sincere in praying.
2: When praying, do not divert your heart to anything other than prayer.
3: Do not ask for illegitimate and sinful prayers.
4: The supplicant believes in the mercy of Allah (S.W.T)
5: If the supplication is not accepted, then he should not complain that I prayed but it was not accepted.
